Mena Alexa Suvari was born on the 29th of September, 1979. She is a famous American fashion designer, model and actress. Following a brief time as a model in the fashion industry before moving into acting when she appeared as guest actors on television shows such as Boy Meets World in the 1990s and High Incident. Her film debut came in the 1997 documentary Nowhere. The performances she made on the film American Beauty, for which she was awarded an BAFTA Award nomination and American Pie led to her being the subject of more attention. Since then she appeared as a co-star in Loser (2000) alongside her American Pie co-star Jason Biggs as well as later portrayed the lead role in the comedy film Sugar & Spice (2001). She had appearances in the 2002 independent drama Spun and in the 2004 thriller film Trauma. The year 2004, she starred on HBO's drama Six Feet Under. She received nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Award in 2005 as part of the Outstanding Ensemble. Her filmography for 2008 included Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, the adaptation of The Garden of Eden and numerous other films. Suvari was a Lancome Paris Adaptive model and Lancome Paris cosmetics print ad girl has featured in numerous fashion magazines and blogs, including Vogue. Suvari is a committed activist and supporter of the African Medical and Research Foundation. She also is active on the issue of women's empowerment and works with organizations that support breast cancer awareness and women's rights and the End Violence Against Women Campaign.
